It started with a need and a search.
Like many women with extremely sensitive skin, Martine Faraya Khan could not find skin care products that met her individual needs. Conventional products, which contain mostly synthetic and/or highly processed ingredients, were of little help to her. She started to research natural alternatives. In so doing she gained a deeper understanding of the profound interconnectedness of the natural world, wherein every particle contains the information of the whole.

Martine chose a natural, holistic approach to solving her skin care dilemma – one that looks to botanical sources and emphasizes the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts. Just as our skin is an intricate matrix of tightly connected cells, so the plants, flowers, seeds, and nuts that yield skin care ingredients contain the same complex cellular structure.

As Martine blended creams for her own use, her friends and colleagues began to ask for samples. She broadened her research, consulting a wide range of experts and source materials in the fields of pharmacology, botany, microbiology, and chemistry, as well as traditional herbalists. She worked to source the purest possible raw materials and to validate their botanical quality. And she developed and tested a variety of blends to find those that worked best for different skin types, taking into account the subtle variations within each type.

The result is Faraya, a line of natural, holistic skin care products for women of all ages and skin types. Using only plant-based ingredients, with no synthetic additives or preservatives, Faraya offers a simple, yet effective, skin care regimen.

Faraya: Because skin is as individual as each of us
Scan any skin care display in any store, and you will find products for the same skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination. These categories exist primarily as marketing tools and are of limited usefulness in helping individual women select the right product for themselves. There are important, yet subtle, variations in skin type that don’t fall neatly into one of the established categories.

At the same time, a huge variety of internal and external influences affect skin type and condition. These influences may be temporary or they may be permanent. They include:
